Outreach and Content Manager
Mental Health America
| Mental Health America (MHA) is looking for an Outreach and Content Manager for MHA’s Center for Research and Innovation (CRI). The CRI is a division of MHA that includes MHA’s signature programs: MHA Screening, Screening-to-Supports, Workplace Mental Health and Wellness. The Outreach and Content Manager will have three major responsibilities. The first is to build and manage relationships with external content contributors, partners, and volunteers for the CRI programs. The second is to assist the program teams in creating, implementing, executing, and tracking marketing activities specific to the related MHA programs. The third is to contribute high-quality content in support of the CRI’s programs. This position will report directly to the Chief Program Officer and VP of Research and Innovation. The hire will need to work collaboratively and independently with three other team members who manage each of the three major programs (Screening, Screening-to-Supports, and Workplace Mental Health and Wellness) on outreach and marketing activities. The hire will also have to work collaboratively and independently with MHA’s dedicated communications, marketing, and external relations staff. Here’s who we’re looking for: You LOVE making connections with people and organizations. You like breaking down what kinds of supports MHA has and how to anticipate the needs of someone you just met to identify a strategy to support them. You like thinking about organizational or program development and strategy. You can communicate with different people or organizations. You’re not afraid to reach out to someone you don’t know to start a conversation. You also like writing and thinking about how you can turn your personal experiences and life challenges into meaningful supports for the community. You like to write articles like those you find at mhascreening.org. You like speaking to groups of people in person or on video. You’re organized despite the chaos and lots of moving parts. You respond to tasks thoroughly and promptly. You can communicate clearly and directly to a team with diverse projects and needs. You’re great at working with multiple programs and different departments independently and collaboratively, and you can structure your own schedule and priorities well. The thought of building partnerships, outreach, and marketing strategies and executing them gets you excited. A note: Although MHA staff are mostly working remotely due to COVID, this position is eligible for full-time remote employment. However, because many events take place in the Washington, DC area, non-local candidates will be expected to travel to DC-area events and to any required planning meetings at their own cost. Local candidates are strongly encouraged. MHA adheres to all state and federal recommendations for maintaining or exceeding social distancing guidelines – if local, you would be one of 2-3 people in the office on any given day for the immediate future, and PPE (masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer) is available. Employees must be eligible to work in the US. Mental Health America (MHA) understands that racism undermines mental health. Therefore, we are committed to anti-racism and embrace diversity and inclusion in all that we do, including informing our hiring practices. We pledge to work against individual racism, interpersonal racism, and racist policies in all their forms.
Priority is given to individuals with lived (preference) or professional experience with underserved populations; Black, Latino, or Native American communities; psychosis; self-harm; domestic violence; interpersonal violence; physical abuse; childhood abuse; or employment issues.
