The role you’ll contribute:
The Behavioral Health (BH) Outpatient Therapist is an independently licensed Therapist or Social Worker who is trained and licensed to treat clients with emotional, behavioral, and mental health disorders. This position practices autonomously as an independently licensed therapist, responsible for diagnostic formulation and differential diagnoses. Therapy/counseling sessions may be individual, family, couples and/or group therapy. As part of the counseling process, they may refer patients out to other specialists as needed. They may conduct interviews, screenings, testing and risk assessments with patients to evaluate their mental condition and formulate a treatment plan. Psychological and/or educational testing may be conducted to assist with differential diagnosis and treatment planning. The position will provide billable services within AdventHealth Medical Group Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinics. In addition to therapy services, the position will provide case management and education to clients, family members, other disciplines involved in the treatment of the patient. Additional responsibilities may include clinic development, utilization management, and participation in performance improvement activities.

• Utilizes evidence-based interventions to assist patients, families, and significant others in coping with the psychosocial aspects of illness and its treatment. • Assessment of mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders applying DSM-5 criteria leading to diagnosis. • Develop and establish appropriate treatment plan, including consultation when indicated. • Provision of individual psychotherapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy as indicated. • Intervention in urgent and emergent mental health problems/crisis situations using de-escalation techniques. • Consults with physicians, patient, hospital staff, family members or significant others in a timely manner to facilitate resolution of identified barriers to treatment progress to ensure the continuity of care. • Maintains pertinent records of therapeutic intervention, assessment, diagnostic impression and treatment for use in compiling accurate statistics. • Documents interventions in the medical record that reflects the current findings and status of the intervention at the time of the intervention and in accordance with hospital, JCAHO and CMS Standards. • Makes referrals to Federal, state, county and community agencies in a timely manner. Develops working relationship with agencies to ensure appropriate service delivery to patients. • Assesses patient for behavioral health needs as needed with appropriate referrals as indicated. Provides provisional diagnoses for mental health issues according to the DSM-5 as needed. • Provides referrals or consults with additional team members when identification of issues needs to be attended by the treatment team. • Maintains effective communication techniques with physicians, nurse practitioners, and team members. • Knowledgeable of current Federal, state and other regulatory agencies in the areas of quality, performance, utilization and patient care. • Ability to recognize, identify, and communicate potential abuse and neglect issues with patients and family members; reports suspected abuse and neglect to appropriate state agencies. • Exhibits empathy and acceptance of adolescent mood variance and attempts at independence. • Identifies social problems and financial limitations in patients that may contribute to discharge and treatment problems. Identifies and provides info about community resources from which patients may benefit. • Maintains current state clinical license and completes continuing education accordingly. • Promotes community partnerships through external networking that enhances effective relationships for AdventHealth. Develops a working relationship with community organizations to establish maximum resources available to patients. Functions as liaison between patient, hospital and community agencies. • Attend, participate, or conduct meetings, conferences, and workshops as required. • Communicate effectively with AHMG team, clients, family members, and other disciplines involved in the treatment of the patient. • Compile timely resources, data, and literature pertaining to clinic needs as required. • Initiates projects to improve the performance of clinic programs and the care provided as requested. • Works independently by using critical thinking and creativity to incorporate evidence-based framework. • Educate and collaborate community agencies/organizations to improve knowledge and awareness of resources and services. • Demonstrates ability to use electronic medical record to document all aspects of patient’s treatment. • Provide such other services as may be determined by the responsible supervisor within your scope of practice • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Masters and 2 years' experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: •Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family, counseling psychology, or clinical psychology •Knowledge of the principles, laws, and practices of independent licensure requirements •Two years of Position-Related Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: •Five years of Position-Related Experience •Experience in billing and coding •Experience with treating both substance use and mental health disorders
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: •State Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board License – Advanced Clinical License •Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (may obtain during first 90 days of employment)
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED: •License Addition Counselor OR Licensed Clinical Addition Counselor
