The Center for Behavioral and Mental Health at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in conjunction with the Divisions of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, & Nutrition and Allergy and Immunology within the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine, are expanding mental health services for medically complex children.

This position focuses on providing clinical care in two primary areas: (1) Providing screening, assessment, and behavioral health intervention for children and parents with allergic diseases, particularly food allergy, seen through the Emory+Children's Food Allergy Center; and (2) Providing assessment and behavioral health interventions for children with gastrointestinal conditions and their families. There are opportunities to participate in program development for both allergy and psychogastroenterology clinic programming.

The clinician will join one practicing pediatric psychologist in the Food Allergy Program and two practicing pediatric psychologists in Gastroenterology in addition to 25+ pediatric psychologists across the Children's system. We are seeking individuals who are interested in joining a dedicated team of professionals seeking to provide the highest quality care to children with pediatric food allergy and gastrointestinal disease. The clinician will join an active multidisciplinary team that includes professionals from Medicine (allergists/immunologists, gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers) and Nutrition. The clinician will be responsible for maintaining their own case load in each of the programs, with patients primarily referred by the treating medical team.

Successful candidates will have specific clinical training and skills related to the assessment and intervention of psychosocial needs associated with medical illness. Outpatient services will occur in co-located and integrated care clinics, where the clinician will be able to follow patients presenting for routine food allergy and gastrointestinal medical care as well as medical procedures such as oral food challenges. Outpatient appointments will be in-person or via telehealth. There are opportunities to supervise trainees at the Master's and predoctoral level. There will also be opportunities for independent and/or collaborative research by joining or initiating research projects on a range of allergic and gastrointestinal disease-related topics.

Successful candidates will possess a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or a related field from an APA/CPA accredited program, have completed an APA accredited child internship, must be license-eligible to practice as a psychologist in the state of Georgia, and must obtain board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology within hospital guidelines. The successful candidate will have experience with diagnostic interviewing, behavioral and cognitive-behavioral intervention, and behavioral parent training, all with medically complex youth.
