Position Summary: The Mental Health Associate-ED is responsible for providing a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment while providing direct observation for an assigned patient experiencing confusion, suicidal ideation, or other psychiatric condition requiring close supervision. This position works in conjunction with the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient. Work situations are confined to patientâs rooms or immediate area and require alertness, constant attention to the patient, and skill in reacting appropriately to changing situations and circumstances
High school diploma required
Current BLS required
Active WA CNA, or must obtain NA-R within 60 days of employment
Previous patient care experience preferred
Successful completion of Mental Health Training Program must be completed before beginning unit based orientation, unless certified as a CNA upon hire

The Mental Health Associate II offers a meaningful career improving the quality of life for those vulnerable to mental illness. By providing a broad continuum of trauma informed care focused on recovery and resilience, you will work in collaboration with the nursing team to ensure the best possible patient experiences and mental health care outcomes.
You will facilitate individual and group adjunctive therapy sessions while you observe, assess, record, and communicate patient behavior and progress
You will engage your critical thinking skills in the planning and implementing of activities and therapeutic sessions
You will create and provide a safe and supportive environment for patients
Collaborate across the department with treatment team to for effective patient care coordination and successful patient outcomes
Foster a learning environment for patients/families, nursing staff, and other members of the health care team
Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
Bachelorâs Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or any other human services field required two (2) years of inpatient Behavioral Health experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelorâs Degree
Obtainment of your Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (AACR) on or before your first day of employment. If your AACR certification is not in âapplied and pendingâ status within 7 days of hire you will be unable to work until your license becomes active, which can take up to 60 days
Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) or C.N.A. required
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association, American Red Cross or WA State Dept. of L&I First aid card through American Red Cross, American Heart Association, WA State Dept. of L&I
Ability to obtain a King County Food Handlers Permit prior to start date
Minimum one (1) year of direct patient care experience preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations
MultiCare provides a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, MultiCare shares a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The starting pay for this position is $17.19 and the pay scale is $17.19 - $25.72 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicantâs years of experience align.
